Sunny vacation, blue waters, the perfect happiness. Until you are getting back from this dream and finding your skin red like a lobster. In that moment you are forgetting how happy you were earlier, and the search for the most effective skin calming treatment is on its way. Sounds familiar? Well.. sounds familiar to me. (And probably to you too – because you are here) As a person who is living by the shore of the spectacular sea, i have tried through out my years, many pharmaceutical treatments, that did not quiet worked out for me very well. I tried the famous “aloe vera gel” that is the only main treatment that i have found in pharmacy, filled with chemicals and is not really do much, as it is not really 100% made from aloe vera gel.
As years gone by, i slowly introduced to the amazing world of essential oils and natural oils, I started to research and testing those oils on my self, I was amazed by the effective fast results.
The first thing that you must do after you were exposed to the sun is taking a nice shower, dry your skin and begin with the procedure.
STEP #1 – HYDRATION
It is very important to hydrate the skin in case of a sunburn, you will start by applying basic cream or lotion of your choice (Make sure your lotion is NOT filled with chemicals) with beneficial essential oils, like lavender, camomile, frankincense and sandalwood. Put few drops from each of the essential oils into your basic cream or body lotion and apply to your skin. The cream will soften the irritated skin surface and give cooling effect. It will be easier to apply the next oils.
STEP #2 – SHEA BUTTER
Shea butter is the most crucial and essential ingredient in treating burns and sunburns. Shea butter is rich with vitamin A , E and F, providing UV protection and restoring the burned area, also provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients that are necessary for collagen production. She butter moisturise the skin and heals the burned area very fast and effectively.
When I put shea butter on my sunburned area, it heals within few hours, the skin do not peel and instead of giving it a red “burned” look it looks like a nice tan in the day after!
Shea butter is a savior! I recommend to keep shea butter in your first aid case at your home, even in cases of small fire burns, It helps the skin heal very fast without blisters and disaster!
STEP #3 – ESSENTIAL OILS
After you put shea butter it is the time to enjoy the amazing nature gifts, which are the essential oils! First aid essential oil for sunburns is Lavender oil.
Lavender oil heals the burned area and giving it a nice cooling effect.
You can finish the treatment here, 3 steps and your done. But if you really want to get fancy, add few drops of camomile, frankincense and sandalwood to your treatment. It works wonderfully.
This is a luxurious treatment for your skin even if you do not have a sunburn. The amazing aroma of the essential oils will also restore your happiness that you felt earlier at the beach, and you will be feeling calm, cool and happy!
Dress up in light cotton clothes so your skin could breath.
Don’t wear tight clothing that can make you feel uncomfortable and can irritate your skin.
Been there done that it works wonderfully! Try it for yourself and let me know how did it worked for you!
STEP #4 – EAT TOMATOES
After you gave your skin a luxurious oil treatment, drink a glass of chilled tomato juice or eat tomatoes. The lycopene in tomatoes will give your skin a boost of natural treatment, that method i have found out by accident. A Few years ago i was exposed to the sun and had a sunburn, without knowing i ate afterwards few tomatoes, i instantly felt that my skin is getting better. As i researched later i have found that consistency of lycopene in our skin protects our skin from harmful ultraviolet lights. So if you are going to be exposed to sun light, next time, i suggest for you to consume some tomatoes before you are going to the beach. 🙂
STEP #5 – GREEN TEA
Now you can sit relax and enjoy a nice cup of green tea, green tea also benefits our skin, It improves our skin completion makes the skin healthy, helps flush out toxins, heals blemishes, scars and reduces inflammation. It contains a high amount of antioxidants, enzymes amino acids, vitamin b and more…
It is the perfect enjoyment after finishing your skin treatment procedure.
You can mix few drops of all the essential oils mentioned above in your basic body cream, and later, after applying shea butter, you can apply those essential oils again on your body for better results.
Be careful with over exposure to sunlight always protect your skin and always stay healthy.
